Press Release: Lovejoy ISD Announces Sloan Creek Intermediate School Principal

Allen, Texas – July 9, 2024 – Lovejoy ISD is proud to announce Amanda Puckett as Principal of Sloan Creek Intermediate School.

Lovejoy ISD is proud to announce Amanda Puckett as Principal of Sloan Creek Intermediate School. Principal Puckett joins SCIS after most recently serving as the Coordinator of the Lovejoy Child Development Center. Her experiences include serving as a teacher, intervention specialist and instructional coach. Prior to that Ms. Puckett served as the Director of Gateway Preschool Academy for three years. Under the leadership and direction of Ms. Puckett, the Lovejoy Child Development Center has grown exponentially. Her commitment to investing in building relationships with staff, parents and students as well as instilling a sense of community and pride is a strength. Ms. Puckett is especially gifted in working with staff and parents to find the very best possible solutions for student success. In addition, Ms. Puckett understands the importance of establishing a safe and supportive learning environment which is essential to achieve high levels of learning for all students.  

Ms. Puckett graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A & M University in College Station in the College of Education and Human Development with a major in Interdisciplinary Studies. She completed her Educational Leadership and Administration program with a Master of Education from Texas A & M University in Commerce in 2008.  Amanda and her husband Scott live in Lucas and have two sons, Barrett will be a junior at Lovejoy High School and Bennett an eighth grader at Willow Springs.

We are grateful for the tremendous positive impact she has had on the Lovejoy Child Development Center.  I have no doubt that Ms. Puckett will bring a strong focus on developing meaningful relationships and high levels of learning to Sloan Creek Intermediate School,” said Katie Kordel, Superintendent of Schools.

In addition, Kimberly Kane has accepted the position of Assistant Principal for Sloan Creek. Ms. Kane is a seasoned educator with 27 years of experience spanning Illinois and Texas, bringing a wealth of expertise to her role as Assistant Principal at Sloan Creek Intermediate School. Most recently Ms. Kane served as an instructional coach in Allen ISD.  Her career in education includes roles as  classroom teacher in both self-contained and departmentalized settings,  instructional specialist for differentiation, and instructional coach for ELA and social studies. With a deep commitment to student success and a passion for fostering a supportive learning environment, Ms. Kane is eager to collaborate with the Sloan Creek community. She looks forward to the opportunity to contribute to the school’s mission of excellence and empowerment, ensuring that each student’s educational journey is rich with opportunities for growth and achievement.

Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Ms. Kane earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Texas State University and went on to achieve her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from St. Xavier’s University. She is married to Patrick and they have five children, Michael, Sydney, Ethan, Erin, and Makenzie. 

The district is also pleased to announce Jason Klotz will serve as Administrative Intern for Sloan Creek.  Mr. Klotz has ten years of teaching experience and will begin his fourth year in Lovejoy ISD, most recently serving as 6th grade Gifted and Talented Social Studies Teacher at SCIS. He is a leader on the Sloan Creek campus and is excited about being a part of the administrative team to create a positive experience for students, staff and parents. Mr. Klotz graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Economics and Masters of Education.  Mr. Klotz is currently pursuing certification for School Leadership.  Jason and his wife Heather have two sons who attend Lovejoy High School, Cooper a senior and Carter will be a sophomore.   

Parents are invited to a Meet and Greet with Ms. Puckett and the administrative team on July 16  at  Sloan Creek Intermediate School in the entrance area from 6 pm to 7 pm or before Walk the Creek on August 6 from 4 pm to 5 pm.  Ms. Puckett looks forward to meeting the students and families of SCIS.
